The second semester started well and the corona curves are descending steadily like the stick in a limbo competition. Some remaining rumble in the jungle and a couple of positive tests, but mainly positive vibes! Catch up with the latest news!
News from the department council
Vote 2022

This year elections are held. Each department chooses a new executive committee, that takes office as per October 1. Candidates for department chair and teamleaders outreach, education and research notify the department manager, on Tuesday March 1 at the latest. On Wednesday March 2 the candidacies will be made public for the entire department. In April we will organize a department meeting where everyone is invited for the formal election/nomination of the executive committee.
We strive for a broad consensus, so bison outfits can remain in the closet!

Good luck to all candidates!
Finance 2022

Our department budget is allocated by the faculty. We always aim for an efficient and righteous spending, where the general needs for our department and education are covered. The executive committee is currently working on a fair allocation model and will communicate this soon to all colleagues.
Wellbeing Management
The past two years the importance of our wellbeing became more visible. Thanks corona! For our wellbeing management the executive committee and Team HR are supported by fantastic Wellbeing Heroes.
The Party Heroes organized a splendid online new year’s reception last week (for the ones who missed the speech of our department chair: right here) and will take care of future fun and hopefully offline events. They’ll keep you posted!

In our hero universe the Happiness Heroes also fly around and safe our days. With sweet micro-initiatives they stimulate the general wellbeing and connectedness in our group. They have the digital floor and like to introduce themselves to you, while they kick off with a shot of inspiration for Tournée Minérale.
Discouraging alcohol consumption and meanwhile promoting gambling? Why not! The spring classics are coming, that asks for a small bet. Just for the honour, but “winning is winning” as José De Cauwer would say!

Say hi to the Happiness Heroes and get inspired for Tournée Minérale

Stepping up you physical wellbeing? Together with colleagues? And whooping other team’s asses? Then the Ghent Ekiden Relay Marathon on Saturday March 19 (starting 13:00 h.) is just for you! Team REVA or multiple teams should be present. Ghent University pays, we run.
Do you want to defend the honour of our department? Claim your spot in Team REVA below (deadline February 27). Fitness level is not important, a fun sportive afternoon however is!

I’m in!
FGE goes Instagram
On Thursday March 31 during the Research Day the new faculty Instagram page goes live. Interesting posts will bring scientific research closer to the broad society. The medium is the message, but content is king. Each department has the opportunity to deliver content for the page. Ruth and Thibault sit in the editorial board on behalf of our department, but all of you can contribute! We are gathering fascinating facts and make an inventory of Reva related theme days in order to bring those under attention.

Are you our source full of wisdom and facts? Leave them below!

What is the impact of remote working, covid measures or a covid infection on muscular complaints and fatigue in adults? Prof. Jessica Van Oosterwijck and prof. Thomas Matheve want to figure it out by an online survey and are looking for participants. A warm call to all colleagues to fill in the survey and spread it among family, friends and social media.
